Summer time Fun

The weather forcast is finally looking up. We had snow 2 days this week but the weekend is supposed to be nice. Finally. We are all so ready for the summer heat. So that leaves me wondering, what are your summer plans?

There is always something to do during the summere here. It all starts with the first festival of the year in May. Depot Days The vendor fill the Depot lawn and there is a nice car show along with that. Just good time to walk around town.

Then in June we have Gyro days. This is the 67th annual event. They drop the ball in the river in Mullan and see how long it takes to get to Wallace. The carnival comes to town and everyone has a great time. It's a big fundraising event for the Gyros.

Then in July we have the High Mountain ATV Jamboree.
People come from all over the west to ride the more then 1000 miles of trails we have. It's a fun weekend full of people in town but it does get loud with all the atv's running around.

Then in August we have the Heritage Days/Huckleberry Festival. Another weekend to get out and walk about town. Check out the vendors and the local shops. Merchants dress in period clothing. There is a huckleberry cook off under the freeway. It's just a nice family weekend.

Then of course my Kimmie's birthday is in August. And that in my opinion is the most important event of the summer. But then again I may be a bit bias there.

When there isn't a festival or event going on in town then we are left to find other means of entertainment and ways to cool off. That of course is an easy task when you live in the beautiful mountains of North Idaho. There is always time for a BBQ or two with friends. And of course if you can get away a quiet weekend camping by the river is always nice. Nothing better then sitting back watching the fire and toasting up some Smores. On those REALLY hot days you can take a trip down the river on your favorite float raft. Last year we floated the St. Joe for the first time. It was nice and not nearly the rat race that the CDA has become. SSHHHH don't tell anyone where it is.

I'm sure we'll spend a lot of time in the back yard this summer with the pool and the swing set as well. Maybe even get some bike riding in.

So I hope that your summer is full of fun adventures and nice weather. We are sure looking forward to it here. Winter has drug on entirely to long in Idaho.
