This morning I was on my way to the office and I past a young man standing on the corner. He was probably about 12 and was wearing a sandwich board sign that read "I'm a liar, a theif and a bully and I don't care about anyone but myself." I was shocked to say the least. And I found myself thinking about it all day.
I wonder what it was that this young man did to get himself into trouble? And did his parents try other means of punishment and this what they felt they had to resort to?
I have to admit that my first thought was "Oh my who would do that to their child?" and then I had to thought "whatever he did I bet he won't do that again".
You have to wonder though if that would really work or if this young man was already calloused enough that it wouldn't matter. Kids now days can be like that. And it makes me sad. They have formed the opinion of "so what are you going to do about it, huh". Parents have offered no real consequenses for the child's actions. Is that the case with this young man? Did they not discipline him until now and this was the form of punishment they chose? I guess I'll never really know the thoughts and reasonings.
What do you think? Do you think that form of punishment would be ok?

A night under the stars and other stuff
Kim's new favorite thing is sleeping out under the stars. We blow up the airmattress and make up a bed and sleep outside in the back yard. She loves to get in bed before it gets dark and count the stars as they start to appear. The weather has been so nice and hot that it doesn't even get to cool during the night. So that's how we've been spending out Friday nights. Just having some nice quiet time together under the stars. Now what could be better then that?
On to another story. Last weekend a local man was out huckleberry picking when he came across the bodies of 2 young people that had been murdered. Our little community has been in an uproar all week as new news and evidence has come out in the investigation. The victims were 18 and 20, boyfriend and girlfriend. The killers, their friends. Two of them 20 years old and the other just 17. They have all been arrested and have confessed to their part in the murders. Now law enforcement is finding out that these young men had confessed to friends what they did prior to the victims being found. So they are in the process of arresting those people and charging them with conspiracy due to the fact that they knew what had happened or in some cases what was going to happen and not a one of them said a thing. I guess I just can't imagine knowing that kind of information and not saying anything. The whole situation is just so sad. The families of everyone involved are going through so much. The thought of your child being murdered or your child being a murderer. Neither thought is something that any parent wants to think about. I am praying for all these families.

Isn't it the middle of June?
Well the reason I ask is because when we got up this morning it was 37 degrees and snowing. Yep I said SNOWING!!!! They are saying it's supposed to be in the mid 70's this weekend and I sure hope it is. Gyro Days are this weekend and the carnival will be no fun if it's still as cold and rainy as it's been the past few weeks. I know that the east coast is being hit with a heat wave. Sure would be good to have some of that heat come our way. The pool is still in storage. Kim has been having fits in the morning wanting to wear flip flops and shorts to daycare. And while I feel the same way about it I can't let her freeze. I just keep saying "Bring on the heat" yet wondering if it will ever come.

Spring may actually be coming......Finally
I think I can finally park in my drive way again. After 3 months of parking in the church parking lot across the street. And there is a couple of patched of my yard showing through. The weather forcast for this weekend is saying it should be in the 60's which will be so wonderful. To finally be able to open the doors and let the fresh air in the house. Plus my wonderful friend (JoAnn) from Canada will be here on Thursday to spend the weekend with us. It will be a wonderful weekend all around.

First Day of Spring my BUTT!!!!
So today was apparently the first day of spring. Well atleast according to the calendar but you would never know it to look out the window. It started snowing last night before I went to bed and was still snowing this morning when I got up. This is what we woke up to.

I'm starting to think that winter is NEVER going to end. The Easter egg hunts that should have been this weekend have all been cancelled. Just about the time that the weather gets nice and we start to see a glimps of grass in the yard it snows again. It's like Mother Nature is just teasing us to be cruel.

SNOW SNOW and MORE SNOW

Just when you think we couldn't possibly get any more....we wake up to another 6+ inches. This past week it has done nothing but snow. It's gotten so deep and heavy that everyone is on top of their roofs shoveling it off. Unfortunately yesterday was to much for the school bus garage. The roof couldn't hold the weight of the snow any longer and it caved in. 6 buses damaged, 2 of those totalled. So unfortunate.
I've only been stuck in my driveway twice this week. The first time was the worst. Thankfully a nice neighbor stopped and pulled me out with his truck. I was so grateful to his kindness. When I said to Kim "we're stuck in the driveway baby" she looked at me with this serious look on her face and said "We're glued to the driveway momma?" I couldn't possibly think of a better way to describe being stuck in the drive way.
Then on Friday I had troubles getting out again. But with a little patients and a lot of kitty litter I got out. After I left at 9:00 a friend of ours came by and plowed out our drive way. But by the time I got home at 3:00 there was another 8 inches and you couldn't even see where he had plowed. Man, I'm glad he did though and I didn't have that much more to shovel.
I was not one bit surprised that Punksatony Phil saw his shadow this morning. At the rate we are going here in Idaho winter will never be over. At the very least it will be July before the snow in our yard is gone.
