Happy Birthday Daddy

Friday was my dear husband's 40th birthday. So of course our little girl had to make Daddy a birthday cake. She was so very proud of herself and couldn't wait to show him her tasty surprise.

Gathering everything in a mixing bowl

Stir, Stir, Stir

A Perfectionist at work

And of course you have to lick the batter.

Topped with sprinkles and a #4 candle.

And then you have to sing Happy Birthday to Daddy.

Now it's official. Daddy is part of the "4 Club". Along with Kimmie (4), Momma (34), Grandma (54) and Grandma Whipps (84). Soon we'll be starting the "5 Club" but Daddy won't be able to join that one.

Happy Birthday Honey hope you had a wonderful day.

Busy months ahead

I was sitting yesterday and thinking about all I have planned between now and summer and thought "Holy Cow I'm going to be a busy girl".

I'm on the committee for Relay for Life. Our Kick Off Party is April 8th. That is really the start of our fundraising and getting everything ready for Relay. I am chairperson for sponsorship and team captain for my team. So I have to get our sponsors organized and my team as well.

For my teams big fundraiser this year I'm planning a "Relay Idol" competition. I would really like to get that together and done in May. There will also be our "flockings" that will begin in April.

My grandma will be celebrating her 85th birthday in June so I'm planning a party for her. We haven't had a family get together since 2001 when my grandparents celebrated their 50th anniversary. So I think it's time for us to get together again. As well as thinking that an 85th birthday is a big deal.

In July I'm taking pictures at a class reunion. The classes of 48, 49 and 50.

Then in August we finally get to Relay for Life. I'm so excited about it again this year. Kimmie and I had so much fun last year. And I think it's so important to get her involved. Then finally we will be celebrating her 5th birthday and getting ready for school again.

The summer is going to fly by. But it will all be fun and well worth the work.

Birthday Parties

My little girl seems to be a very popular kid. I think she's invited to a party atleast once a month. Last night she went to her friend E's party. They are friends from Kim's old daycare and have said they were best friends since they were 2 and could talk good. They are so funny together. It makes me a little sad that they don't get to see each other very often since we changed Kim's daycare and schools.

So this was the 2nd party that I've just dropped her off at. She's so excited about me leaving her at a party to be by herself. And suprisingly when it's time to go home and I get there to pick her up she's happy to leave too. No battles about her wanting to stay longer. I think she's enjoying her new found freedom as well. She actually thanked me for leaving her at the party by herself.

I guess the new indepences is always a little bittersweet. I love that I'm getting back more time for myself but it's also a little sad that she doesn't need me so much anymore. I'm sure that every other mom I know feels the same way.
